In recent years, composite with high specific strength and stiffness, especiallyconstituted by FRP face and light material sandwich structure, refreshed the classicalstandard shipbuilding industry, and caused great changes in the ship design and production.But because of the lag of development of composite manufacturing industry in our country,compared with international standard, our construction design and manufacture ofcomposite hull structures have a large backward. Just in recent years, the finite elementsimulation of composite hull structures analysis of our country began to develop. Andespecially there are few technical papers published for the finite element analysis of foamsandwich composite technology, thus seriously affecting the development of foam sandwichcomposite hull industry. Therefore, the numerical simulation of foam sandwich compositehull structure analysis and calculation research is necessary enough.Departure from the classical laminated plate theory, briefly introduced the commonsandwich structure design methods and experience. In the preliminary work, this paperestablished one simulation based on the choice of ANSYS simulation platform andSHELL91sandwich elements. Face to the special nature of marine foam sandwichcomposite structures, this paper established such an equivalent parameters translationsystem that based on classical sandwich structure design method, and formed equivalentsimulation method and discriminating method to the initial stiffness of the structure, theinitial&ultimate failure load.This paper in detail described the marine foam sandwich composite beams and platesbending tests, to verify the equivalent simulation method. The test results showed that theinitial stiffness of structure and the initial&ultimate failure load from equivalentsimulation are consistent.Based on the previous work about numerical test methods, this paper launched aseries of numerical tests, and compared them with the equivalent simulation resultsconsistently. The work is proved practical and propagable. This paper preliminary viewsthat this method can be applied to the simulation of large foam sandwich composite shipand marine structures, and greatly reduces the amount of computation on the basis ofaccuracy guaranteeing, thus the calculation work about overall structure on strength andstiffness is quite persuasive.
