With the development of science&technology and the needs of the culturalconstruction, domestic exhibition industry is developing rapidly in recent years. As anew type of modern display technology, the digital mechanical matrix has receivedmore attention, some companies, enterprises and research institutions that engaged inthe exhibition industry begin to carry out in-depth research and development on it.The digital mechanical matrix changes the usual monotonous form of "close type" orcartoon form, starts to use video or projection,which makes the plot display system adynamic process.This thesis aims to study the hardware system and software control system ofthe digital mechanical matrix, which mainly includes mechanical structure designingof matrix unit, lower machine system which is based on micro controller unit (MCU)precisely controlling rising-falling movement of each matrix unit, PC system whichcoordinates each matrix unit movement and the communication between uppermachine system and lower machine system. In the specific designing process,comparing to different three types of transmission: pulley synchronous machine drive,lead screw nut pair drive and gear rack transmission, the author selects the first typewhich is the most appropriate. In the design of the lower machine control circuit,analyzing and improving the previous frequently-used AT89S52drive system, decidesto use the dsPIC33F as center control chip, of which the excellent performance makesthe program processing safer and more reliable, also makes motor run more smoothlywith the help of subdivided driving technologyThe main process of motion and control is: PC reads images needed to display,and gets the movement distance for each unit through internal operation,which willbe sent to lower machine system; then, microcontroller sends pulses and preciselycontrols the rotation of stepping motor by pulses distribution and power amplificationof drive chip; after that, stepping motor drives synchronous belt wheel, whichrealizes the rising-falling movement by driving pixel unit by synchronous belt pulley.There will be2400pixels in this project, and now we have432pre-productions forsystem debugging, each control circuit board controls six motors. PC control system is based on the MFC and it is responsible for reading the design for display andconverting the gray value of each unit pixel to certain distance to rise or fall. Uppermachine system distributes control information by the time the PC controls multiplechips and finally it controls the formation of all sorts of pattern.With the joint efforts of the project team, digital mechanical matrix is finallysuccessfully developed, which lays a foundation for quickly occupying the marketlater, also indicates the direction of following work which is especially on thedevelopment of peripheral equipment for digital mechanical matrix.
