Inductor is widely used in pulsed power technology nowadays. Inductors can bedivided into two classes by their different applications, such as pulse-shaping inductors andenergy storage inductors. Inductor is one of the key components in pulsed power supply(PPS) which use semiconductor device as the main switch. A pulse-shaping inductor canlimit the peak value and di/dt of the pulsed current and decouple the pulsed forming units(PFU) when sequentially fired. And a suitable inductance could help increase the efficiencyof the whole facility. One of the important research directions of PPS is miniaturization anda basic way of miniaturization is to miniaturize the key components. Apart from the energystorage device and the main switch, the pulse-shaping inductor also takes much volume ofPPS. This thesis mainly studied on three kinds of miniaturized inductors. Firstly, a solenoidinductor was studied and a static magnetic field analysis was done with Ansoft Maxwell.And an improved structure which had no effect on the performance of the inductor wasadopted to prevent the inductor from rotating. Secondly, a planar inductor was designed andconstructed. Static magnetic field analysis was done to analyze the magnetic flux densitydistribution. Meanwhile, a simulation circuit was established to analyze the turn-to-turnvoltage distribution of the inductor and the results turned out to coincide with the premierdesign. And five samples of the inductor were damaged to varying degrees during testing.The main causes were the large electromagnetic force and the uncertain manufactureprocess. After that a multi-layer solenoid inductor was designed and static magnetic fieldanalysis was done. This period mainly focused on the comparison of the three kinds ofinductor. At last an optimal design for the planar inductor was discussed and proposed.
