The asphalt pavement structure is the main pavement type of high-grade highway in China. With thevigorous development of national economy and highway transportation enterprise in our country, thevolume of high-grade highway traffic increases constantly, and it has a high percentage of overloadingvehicles, overload and overrun phenomenon, and those causes lead to seriously early damage to asphaltpavement structure, which restricts the development of transportation industry in China. In order to adaptto the development of traffic conditions, in recent years all over the country start to draw lessons fromforeign asphalt layer, and paved the thick asphalt pavement structure, therefore, in the important period ofNorthwest region Province development, researching a kind of durability of asphalt pavement structure,which adapted to the western climate environment and economic characteristics, is an urgent problem inscientific researchers.This article starts from the investigation, summarizing and analyzing the climate environment, trafficconditions, the use of asphalt pavement structure status and failure characteristics in Northwest region, andanalyzing the road damage types in unity. Then, according to the present situation and development trendof asphalt pavement structure in western China, puts forward five kinds of typical pavement structures, andusing BISAR software to carry on the comparison and analysis of five kinds of typical pavement structuresin coaxial load under the action of mechanical response, which based on the theory of elastic layeredsystem, and also contrastive analysis the fatigue life, high temperature stability, low temperature crackresistance, slip resistance, resistance to water damage and economy. Finally, based on the theory of fuzzycomprehensive evaluation model, to made a comprehensive evaluation on the pavement structure ofdifferent regions in Northwest region, and recommend better comprehensive performance of pavementstructure types in different regions in Northwest region, the optimal scheme in cold climate zone ofpavement structure in Hexi: thin asphalt layer on the asphalt pavement structure (structure D).
