In recent years, ur country’s economic construction has got brilliant results,whichpromoted the rapid development of China’s transport undertakings, more and more of the oldbridges could not meet the requirements. So reinforcement and maintenance of the old bridgesbecame more and more important. Tied-arch bridge is a common bridge style. It includes therigid arch bridge of the flexible bars, the flexible arch bridge of the rigid bars, the rigid archbridge of the rigid bars. n this paper, the problems of tied arch bridges and the reasons thatcaused these problems are summarized and concluded. There are two different ways toreinforce the tied arch bridge which were illustrated in this paper. One is suspenderreplacement, the other one is suspender newly increased. The theory of the two different wayswas illustrated in this paper. Through analysis, the priority of the boom replacement wasintroduced and the bearing capacity of the tied arch bridge before and after the suspenderreplacement was analyzed. And the conclusion that the tide arch bridge met with therequirement of bearing capacity after suspender replacement was drawn. The load test whichwas worked on the tied arch bridge indicated that the conclusion we had got was right and thetied arch bridge has some security reserve.
