Guang-gan expressway Gan-Chuan circles across the barren mountains of SouthwestChina, designs the bridge subterranean proportion to be high, the tunnel will mainly passthrough in the stratum to have the massive phyllites, in the excavation process will producethe massive phyllite spoil inevitably. In the embankment fill section where lack suitablesources of packing case, sometimes forcing engineering must use phyllite spoil forembankment filling, Using phyllite spoil can reduce project cost and protect the limited landresources and minimize damage to the surroundings. But because of the low strength ofphyllite, easily broken, poor water stability, is a poor subgrade filling material, whether canmeet the subgrade filling requirements at present there is no unified theory and reliabilitytheory, which seriously hampered the schedule and construction cost of the project budget. Sohow to effectively use a lot of phyllite spoil as embankment filling material will become oneof the main problems encountered in Guang Gan high-speed construction.This article with a large number of laboratory focused on excavation of phyllite spoilroad performance of the particle size distribution and to determine feasibility of phyllite spoilas embankment filler. The paper’s main research results are as follows:1. Through Mineral analysis: phyllite along Guang-gan high speed the wide sericitecontent, swelling clay mineral composition rarely.. Slightly weathere spoil test of compressivestrength, resistance, swelling test, direct shear test, reject the preliminary analysis of themechanical properties, water properties. Preliminary analysis of weakly weathered phyllitefeasibility spoil used as embankment filling material2Through the surface vibration, the heavy compaction test under the different condition.Using of mathematical statistics analyze the discarded material changes in particle sizedistribution under the action of external force, a detailed study of the particle spiol in impactcompaction, compaction time, particle size, water and other factors under the condition of thebroken.3Through compaction test to determine the thickness effect on maximum dry density ofphyllite reject; When thickness is ratio6:4to obtain maximum dry density. By the compactedspecimens in CBR test, disintegration test, loading after soaking and immersing after loadingtest of phyllite spoil analyze the based features, experiments show that the water stability ispoor, wetting deformation significantly.4. Phyllite compacted material collapsible deformation is significant, water effect on theembankment filling effect, the need for water treatment of subgrade, and determine thewaterproof processing scheme.
