FSC is a kind of automobile design and manufacturing competition which is participated byChinese college students majoring in vehicle engineering. The engine used for the project must bea four-stroke-piston engine, and its displacement is limited to610cc. What’s more, in order torestrict the power of the engine, all the intake air must pass a20mm limiting valve. Air intakesystem is an important component of engine, the layout and structure parameter of which has agreat impact on volumetric efficiency. Demarcating of engine electronic system is directlyconnected with the dynamic, economy and emission property. As a result, engine air intake systemdesigning and demarcating is playing an important role in the research for engine product.According to the actual situation of the project and the arrangement of the engine on thevehicle, Suzuki GSX-R600engine was chosen as the research object. Furthermore, according tothe rules,on the basis of the existing engine inlet system,we have designed and manufactured thenew one.The limiting valve and pressure stabilizing cavity of the air intake system weresimulated,analyzed and optimized in pressure, velocity, mass-flow, turbulent kinetic energythrough FLUENT simulation software. The length of the intake manifold was determined by theinlet pipe fluctuation effect formula and the arrangement of the intake system on the frame.The open MOTEC ECU M84was chosen as calibrated matching tool after investigations.The calibrated system software had friendly interface, strong versatility, simple operation, andcomplete functions, and also can be modified on line. By studying M84on the enginepreliminarily, preparation of the basic fuel injection pulse width of the electronic controlled engineand the basic ignition advance angle map diagram were completed eventually. What’s more, thecalibrated characteristic curve of the engine after replacing the intake system was also obtained.
