Originated from doubly salient permanent-magnetic machine (DSPM) and switched reluctancemachine, the doubly salient electro-magnetic machine (DSEM), has significant value for research andapplication. Based on the research of the traditional uncontrolled full-bridge rectifier generation mode,the full-bridge rectifier with split capacitor and fully-controlled rectifier topology on the DSEM powergeneration system are studied in this paper. And these study lay the foundation for the further researchand application of the doubly salient electro-magnetic generator (DSEG).The structural principle of a12/8pole DSEM is introduced firstly. Topologies of thecommon-used uncontrolled generation modes are given. With the help of the finite element analysis(FEA) and experiments, the armature reaction and output characteristics of the uncontrolledfull-bridge rectifier generation mode are researched. Based on the research of the uncontrolledfull-bridge rectifier generation mode, the bridge rectifier with split capacitor is proposed. And theoutput characteristics with different capacitor values are studied.Considering the uncontrollability of the armature reaction in the uncontrolled full-bridge rectifiergeneration mode, six switch devices are adopted to replace the diodes, which constitutes thefully-controlled rectifier power generation mode. Control strategy I and control strategy II, which aresuitable for the DSEG, are proposed. And for each strategy, the model equation is established.The load characteristics and power characteristics under different control strategies are studied.For each control strategy, the armature reaction and the effecting are studied.Experiments of the fully-controlled generation mode on a12/8poles DSEM prototype areconducted. The experimental results verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the FEAresults. The results also show that the fully-controlled generation mode has great application andresearch value.
