Contact as an important part of electrified railways, direct relationship with the safety of railway transportation. Due to the contact long-term exposure in the bad environment, contact failure occurs frequently, give a serious impact of railway transportation. This paper give a research on traveling wave fault location according to T-R+NF power supply. Finally show that, normally provided a comprehensive fault location method, that is, D-type traveling wave fault location method as the main methods, and supplemented by A-type traveling wave fault location; In special circumstances, E-type traveling wave fault location can positioning fault point.The paper systematically expounds wave equation of the transmission line, phase mode transform, the basic theory of wavelet analysis and introduce the transmission characteristics of traveling wave in transmission line. In the basic theory of wavelet analysis, introduce the application of wavelet analysis in the signal singularity detection and the B-spline wavelet theory, through analysis of the cubic B-spline wavelet, put forward with the view of cubic B-spline wavelet as wavelet basis in singular point detection.This paper introduces A-type, D-type and E-type wave ranging principle, and using the electromagnetic transient simulation software ATP to establish simulation model of T-R+NF power supply mode. Through the simulation for voltage current waveform, then import MATLAB, positioning singular point. Through set different fault point suggested that A-type traveling wave fault location method combining D-type traveling wave fault location can accurate positioning fault point. In special circumstances, such as fault occurred in phase voltage zero or near zero and the influence of thunder electric wave, the E-type traveling wave fault location can locate the fault point.The paper finally, introduce the overall design of the traveling wave ranging system. This paper puts forward that the traveling wave ranging system is divided into two parts:One is the data acquisition system based on waveform acquisition; The second is the data analysis system based on data processing. The core of Data acquisition system is the TMS320F2812, responsible for transient traveling wave signal high-speed sampling. Data analysis system is based on the Windows, responsible for wavelet analysis, and determine the fault point. This paper finally gives the overall design block diagram of the traveling wave fault location.
