Load simulation is one common kind of hardware-in-the-loop technology. Electricload simulator is widely researched in recent years. The motor used as actuator in theload simulator is driven by the motor used for simulation. At this time, the actuator is inthe braking condition. So the realization of electromagnetic braking in the actuator isone of the key technology of electric load simulation system. The study of motorbraking could be the foundation for the design of drive circuit and the control of loadingtorque. Compared with traditional motors, dual stator motor has a control redundancybecause of its two electrical ports. So control characteristics may be better when dualrotor motor is applied. Based on the principle of braking, dual stator permanent magnetsynchronous motor used as actuator in the simulation system is studied in this paper.Firstly, load simulator is analyzed, and the relationship between loading torque andelectromagnetic torque is derived. Mathematical model of simulator’s load side andtransfer function are given. On the basis of this, according to the control requirements,the system function is corrected. In addition, under common loading gradient, therunning state of loading motor is analyzed.In the next place, dc motor and asynchronous motor is analyzed. Principle ofdifferent kind of braking is analyzed. Combined with the torque formula, brakingcircuits and control loop are designed. By construction of braking torque loading systemin Matlab, simulation analysis of torque’s control for the two motors verify thefeasibility of braking circuits.Mathematical model of PMSM is made; the principle of braking is presented; thebraking circuit is given. Then based on mathematical model of braking circuit, transferfunction is made. Loading torque is controlled with the principle of automatic control.The paper analyzes the change of current in the braking circuit, making foundation ofbetter design of braking circuit in the future. What’s more, common torque controlstrategies are introduced. When these are applied in load simulator, the paper addsenergy storage link to store feedback energy and keep DC voltage stable.In the end, based on the method of electric loading and braking loading,time-shared method for dual stator motor is given, in which electric and braking circuitare applied respectively in the two stators. The feasibility is proved through simulationin Matlab. Then, a summary of the entire paper is made.
