The Study Of Ribbon Landscape Design

The construction of urban open space is developing rapidly and the project practice isfull of swing in recent years. In the numerous projects, the landscape which has dynamicmodeling and likes ribbon is attracting the focus of people and being the landscape centreof city. As the similar Morphology character of these landscapes, the author proposes theconcept of ribbon landscape through summarizing and researches it as a separatelandscape type in this paper.Through the contrast of the linear space and the ribbon landscape, the paper makesclear the concepts and properties of the ribbon landscape, and expounds the landscapetypes, functions and constituent elements deeply. The paper also interprets the design ideasand construction concept of domestic and abroad successful ribbon landscape.Furthermore, the paper summarizes the successful experience and exhumes the distinctcharacteristics of curve shape and narrow space from the ribbon landscape. Moreover,color psychology, behavioral psychology and psychology of recreation are quoted toexplore the demand which in visual, psychological and space of the ribbon landscape.In addition, the paper investigates the construction principles of the ribbon landscape,and summarizes six morphological types of the ribbon landscape which like the road type,drapes type, pieces type, plants type, fences type, corridor type and seven spatial structureswhich as line style, radial style, circle style, organizing style, inclusive style, meteorhammer style and node beaded style. The paper also describes the different characteristicsof the hard materials like metal, stone, glass and the soft materials like plants and water.These materials have corresponding application in the ribbon landscape. In the end, thepaper proposes the landscape spatial organization principles which are sustainable,three-dimensional, local conditions and humane. And this principles are applied in thedesign of the red ribbon landscape of HuaZhong University of Science and Technology.
