Analysis of wind environment and thermal environment of the residential area is tomake early preparations for the green building assessment. Good residential naturalventilation can improve the comfort of the outdoor environment, speed up the outdoorheat dissipation and pollutant emissions and ensure the comfort and health of residents.Rational planning of residential buildings can ease the heat island effect effectively, andreduce air conditioning energy consumption of building. The greening has importanteffects on the outdoor thermal environment quality and the residential microclimate.In this thesis, a residential area located in Wuhan is chosen as the research object.Numerical simulation software (i.e., CFD) is used to simulate the wind environment andthe summer heat environment of the residential area in winter and summer. Theunreasonable wind environment in the residential area can be found by the analysis of thewind speed contours of wind environment, wind velocity vector, the dynamic pressure andthe static pressure contours in summer and winter. Then, two improvement programs areproposed and simulated to meet the relevant provisions of evaluation mark of the greenbuilding on residential wind environment by making appropriate adjustments of thebuildings in the residential area. CFD is also used to simulate the temperature field atdifferent times in a typical summer calculated day. The intensity of the heat island of theoriginal design program and the improvement program is assessed. Finally, four differentgreening forms with arbor, trees, artificial lakes, lawns on the basis design is specified andsimulated.Some qualitative conclusions can be proposed by this research. These conclusionscan be used as the theoretical basis to predict and evaluate the residential area windenvironment and thermal environmental. Then, some guidance for architectural planningand greening of the residential area can also be got.
