The timetables are the basic of public transit scheduling, which is the specific plan ofbus service. Because of the complex traffic condition and the incomprehensive data, thetimetable is hard to be implemented in China while it has been applied early in westerncountries. In order to improve the on-time probability, timetabling for the original stop isnot enough, developing the detail timetables for the middle stops is also necessary. Thediver can adjust the behavior according the timetable and provide reliable bus service. This thesis focus on the compilation of timetables for the middle stops, which isdifferent with the previous research on the frequency setting to the originating station. Thedetail and high reliability timetables will be generated after analyzing the GPS data. Themain research is as follows: firstly, the arrival time and departure time are obtained bymatching the GPS data to the stops; then, the time period will be divided and thetimepoints will be selected using the GPS data; next, after analyzing segment time anddwell time in each period, the right segment time and dwell time can be set for everyperiod; finally, the timetable can be generated with the parameters. This timetable compilation approach is successfully applied in Line4of Shiyan.Such a timetable has higher on-time probability with the same passenger demand, whichcan guide drivers and passengers, and is helpful on improving the quality of bus service.
