With the expansion of inter-regional power grid interconnection and power marketreforms, the transmission of the power system is increasing and getting closer to its safeoperating limit. Grid total transfer capability (TTC) as an important indicator to reflectthe transmission capacity of the grid limit, plays an important role in ensuring thesecurity and stability of the electric power transmission, and meeting the regional demandfor electricity load. Research TTC automatic calculation and analysis, will greatlyimprove the efficiency of grid operation scheduling staff. This paper is focused on theTTC automatic calculation of large interconnected power system study.The paper first summarizes the latest research on TTC calculation method at homeand abroad, introduces the basic principles and calculation methods of repeated powerflow, and its application in the calculation of TTC.Then, repeated power flow method in TTC calculation is researched andcorresponding improvements are made; Regulatory element sensitivity index-basedpower order table is presented to better reflect the unit to adjust the influence of the gridtrend and transient stability; Central China Power Grid, the actual large-scale systems, isanalyzed and calculated on the main transmission section of the TTC. Results show thatthe N-1thermal stability and transient stability constraints are the main transmissioncapacity constraints; Interaction for the cross-section transmission capacity thephenomenon is presented, which can be used to determine the correlation betweendifferent cross sections TTC indicators. Cross-sectional transmission capacity mutualrestraint is analyzed.Finally, TTC automatic calculation software is developed for large interconnectedgrid based on the repeated power flow method. The trend adjustment processoptimization and fault verification significantly improve the TTC calculation speed. Thesoftware has been applied in the Central China Power Grid and other large-scale practicalsystem in a good effect.
