In the light of environmental protection and energy conservation, buildinginsulation has become more popular. Insulation board is mounted onto building wall. But in recent years, the insulation boards made from polystyrene materials presentfire hazard. The replacement by inorganic insulation materials has become not only atrend but also the inevitable scientific progress. The foam concrete insulation boardhas lots of advantages, including lightweight, less resource consumption, and betterheat insulation properties, but at the same time disadvantages such as lower strengthand collapsibility. Effective ways to improve the performance of the foam concrete isthrough activations which refer to chemical activation, mechanical activation andmicro-wave activation, etc. The effectiveness of these methods has been influencedby a number of factors. In this paper, comprehensive experiments have beenconducted to figure out optimum activation strategy. Orthogonal and contrastexperiments are done. Compositions of activators, water-cement ratio, H2O2dosage,water reducer amount have been included.7-day strength,28-day strength, density, thermal conductivity, cell size are measured. The main chemical activators in thispaper are Ca(OH)2, Na2SO4, Na2SiO3, Na2CO3and CaCl2. Through analysis ofdifferent evaluation index, the optimum types and composition of activators aredetermined. In addition, an in-depth discussion of activation mechanism has beenmanifested at last. The results in paper has a positive influences on on-site utilizationof foam concrete.
