Faced with large volume of traffic,axle load and harsh climate conditions,ordinaryasphalt not qualified enough to meet the requirements of pavement high performance.So the application of SBS modified asphalt has obtained large-scale development.In many factors affecting the quality of the SBS modified asphalt,the SBS doses will directly determine its performance.While there is currently no effective means on the supervision and control of SBS doses,main reason is lack of effective test method of SBS doses.Therefore,rapid accurate testing of SBS doses is one of the important measures tocontrol the quality of SBS modified asphalt and ensure the performance of modifiedasphalt pavement.Infrared spectrometry is applied to analysis the infrared spectrum of the matrix asphalt, the SBS modifier and the SBS modified asphalt.The influence of SBS type、dosage and additives on modified asphalt is discussed in the article. The law about IR absorption peak height and peak area ratio changing with the SBS dosage is exploredalso. The SBS dose infrared spectra determination method provides the basis for the quality control of SBS modified asphalt.The result shows that matrix asphalt had characteristic absorption peak in wave number1375cm–1,in the wave number966cm–1had a strong polybutadiene characteristicpeak, in the wave number698cm–1had a strong styrene characteristic peak.They allcan be used as the basis for the SBS modifier qualitative analysis.At the same time the influence was analyzed on infrared spectra of the SBS modifier type,SBS doses,additives(including stabilizing agent and compatibilizer).The relationship was established between SBS doses and the absorbance ratio which is equal to1375cm–1absorbance values divided respectively by the966cm–1and698cm–1absorbance values.The paper respectively based on the infrared attenuated total reflection (ATR) andtransmission testing technology (tablet) to get the absorbance changing at966cm-1with SBS doses, and to detect unknown doses of SBS modified asphalt samples.The resu lts show that both kinds infrared testing technology can quickly and accurately determinate SBS doses of modified asphalt, realize the effective monitoring of the construction quality.
