Research On The Problem Of Trucks Deadhead On The Expressway In Shanxi

In2012, world economic was slowing down, international trade growth rate wasstagnated, trade protectionism was raised, the European debt crisis was intensified, andChinese economic growth became slow. The pattern of economic development in Shanxiprovince is highly dependent on the external economic environment, which could result incontinuously deteriorating of the environment of highway transport, persistently increasingof the percentage of empty to loaded car kilometers, and highlighting the truck deadheadproblem.This paper would firstly outline the development of Shanxi economy, Shanxi highwayand road transport industry. Secondly, based on the platform of highway traffic chargedatabase in Shanxi and highway truck deadhead data across the country, some probabletraffic characteristics conclusion of empty running car in Shanxi are obtained, such as thepercentage of empty to loaded car kilometers, empty traffic composition, position, timing,flow and mileage. At the same time, through combining the traffic characteristics above tothe investigation of highway empty car running in Yuncheng City, which is part of Shanxiprovince, the reason of highway truck deadhead would be analyzed. Finally, correspondingsuggestions are recommended to solve the truck deadhead.This paper has certain directive significance in reality to decrease the rate of empty carin highway of Shanxi, and recommended that Shanxi highway administration section needto cooperate with traffic management departments to build highway empty monitoringsystem, and formulate corresponding policies such that to lead the development of theShanxi road transport industry in a healthy way.
