Explorating The Form Of Ming Tang Ritual Hall In The Pingcheng City Of The Northern-wei Dynasty

The Northern and Southern Dynasties is the very important period in the Chinesearchitecture history, which connecting with the Han Wei Dynasty and Sui Tang Dynasty.Until439BC, Tuoba Xianbei nationality entered and garrisoned in the Central Plains,once unified the northern part of China. It made Pingcheng (Now called DaTong), as thecapital city of Bei Wei Dynasty, became the political, economical and cultural center ofnorthern part of China. The Hall of Mingtang of North-Wei Dynasty was an importantexample of the Chinese traditional Ceremonialist-order which was built in the capitalcity Pingcheng of North-Wei Dynasty by the emperor Xiao-wen for putting his policy ofHanstylizing into practice. The essential form of the building was based on the rule ofEast-Han building of the Hall of Mingtang built in the Han capital of Luo-yang. Someancient documents of “Three Ceremonial Orders” were referenced by the emperor. Itwas a new form created by uniting the three building types(the Hall of Brightness, theHall of Pi-Yong and the Sacred Terrace) into one building.This article takes Pingcheng Mingtang ritual hall as the research object, from theangle of the building, discussing the architecture construction and demonstration of thatperiod. On the basis of the Northern Wei Pingcheng Mingtang site archaeological report,and combined with the research field of Surveying and mapping, as well as the relevantliterature, caves, such as the image data of mausoleum, and even compared with theHan Changan city hall site, the Eastern Han Dynasty Luoyang Mingtang site. Thearticle Summarized that the characteristic and the structure of the Northern Wei DynastyPingcheng Mingtang technology main building, and further puts forward the possibilityof the Northern Wei Dynasty wooden structure technology. In order to provide anopportunity for further investigation, the Northern Wei Pingcheng Mingtang site peacecity culture.In addition, the article will provide detailed information and basis of the protection and repair of the Northern Wei Pingcheng.
