World energy situation is tight, and peoples environmentalawareness is increasing, green energy products more and more popular.Lighting industry also is faced with industrial upgraded, need to makeproduct with more efficient and environmentally friendly. Humanelectric lighting from the initial Edison invented the practicalincandescent lamp, has experienced four generations, they include heatradiation source, a low-pressure gas discharge light source, highpressure gas discharge lamp, solid light source. The four generationlight source is still in use, thermal radiation source has been graduallyquit from the historical stage, many countries have legislation requiringphased ban the sale of incandescent lamp. The fourth generation of thesolid light source, has many advantages, such as environmentalprotection, does not contain mercury, long service life, as well as thetheoretical light effect value higher, but his disadvantages also exist atthe same time, expensive, folded into each lumen sales price is at least5times more than the other light source. Now the largest amount or afluorescent lamp, fluorescent lamp from the initial T12, after graduallyimproved, through the T10, T8, T5, T4and smaller size. As the driverfor the fluorescent lamp, ballast also experienced the first step ofinductance ballast, to half inductance ballast, as well as all discretecomponents of the electronic ballast, to integrated circuit as the corecomponent of electronic ballast. This article will analysis and comprehend how fluorescent lampworked. And in accordance with the IEC standards, the electronicballast should be designed to accord with several important indexes. Also we should analysis performance and price, and optimized design,to achieve the highest cost-effective effect. The specific method is:first is the use of T5reference ballast, fluorescent lamp V-Icharacteristics were measured, then we must to do some compare of more common models of electronic ballast, analysis is includetheoretical, electrical properties, reliability, cost etc. At the last, we willuse Infineon ICB2FL03G; design a ballast to meet the full range offunction requirements of electronic ballast for low cost, small volumeof2lamps T558W electronic ballast, this ballast is completely in linewith the IEC standard requirements of various indexes.
