Permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) has been widely used in the vehicle powersystem and wind energy conversion system (WECS) for its merits of high power density and highefficiency, but it is difficult to adjust the air-gap magnetic field, leading to the narrow speed range andpoor voltage regulating performance. To solve the above problems, this thesis proposes a novelgeneration system based on the open-winding PMSG and the researches have been conducted.Firstly, this thesis introduces the mathematical model of open-winding PMSG, the topology andoperational principle of the series-connected generation system consisted of inverter, open-windingPMSG, rectifier and storage battery are given, then the novel voltage regulation strategy based onvoltage space vector modulation principle, power flow pattern, operating modes are analyzed. Thesimulation model is set up by the software Matlab to confirm the generation process with suddenchanges of loads in a wide speed range.Secondly, on the basis of series-connected generation system, the parallel-connected generationsystem is proposed based on the parallel-connected configuration of inverter and rectifier, it is asimple structure in comparison to the series-connected system without the storage battery. Hysteresiscurrent control of the proposed system is put forward by analyzing the operating principle ofequivalent circuit of single phase winding and the operating modes of voltage regulation. Simulationmodel is also established to verify the generation principle.Finally, the experimental platform is established based on the TMS320F2812controller. Thehardware and softwafe designs are elaborated and the flowchart of DSP and CPLD software areintroduced. The experimental researches of an open-winding PMSG of1kW power ratings are carriedout. It indicates that the two generating systems researched in this paper have advantages of widespeed range operation and comparatively good voltage regulation performance.
