With the rapid development of Chinese economic and the expandation of thecities, along with the rapid growth of urban traffic demand, the problems of theimbalance between traffic supply and demand become much more serious. As amassive transit, public transport can provide services for travelers by takingadvantages of effective spaces, thus building a safe, convenient, fast, punctualpublic transport system which has become an inevitable requirement for sustainabledevelopment of urban transport. In order to reduce the signal delay of public transit,a transit signal priority control method based on travel time prediction is built, andthe contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the basic methods and theories of transit priority are summarized, theresearch ideas and frameworks of methods of transit signal priority based on traveltime predication is proposed. Then, the influence factors of transit travel time isanalyzed, four typical variables such as bus arrival time, traffic flow, velocity etc.are selected as the inputs of artificial neural network model and the artificial neuralnetwork mode which can predict the travel time of public transit quite well is putforward. Again, the active priority control strategy based on travel time prediction isanalyzed, the main-process stream of transit signal priority control and the actuatinglogic modes of signal controllers are established. The selection of active strategiesbased on travel prediction is studied and its selection algorithm is built. At last thebasic parameters of the timing plan under active signal priority control are analyzed,and the timing optimization model is established by analyzing the changing ofaverage total delay per person under three different strategies. By using this model,the optimal effectiveness under active priority control of the intersection can beachieved, which made the public transit priority more feasible. Finally this model isapplied to a case.Through this study, methods of transit signal priority based on travel timepredication is proposed, a theoretical basis of promoting transit signal priorityimplement with practical value is provided.
