Suspension performance affects the handling stability and ride comfort performance ofthe vehicle directly. And rubber bushing characteristics of suspension system has a crucialrole, especially for high speed of the vehicle. That may has the special vital significance forguiding the actual suspension and vehicle research and development manufacturing work,shorten the development cycle and reduce test cost is that how to establish high precisionincludes rubber bushing in the dynamic model of virtual prototype simulation and testingto verify the suspension positioning and vehicle performance index parameters reasonable,and how to ensure the vehicle has the reasonable matching relationship betweenperformance parameters.In this paper, we take a car chassis development project as the background and studythe torsion beam suspension rubber bushings.First of all, the constitutive model of rubber is analyzed. In order to obtain the allinformation for bushing stiffness which may not get through the uncompleted material tests,an optimization using the finite element analysis for parameter identification is established.Secondly, all the bushing stiffness information has been fond through the parameteridentification. A comparison has been taken in the FE model for the suspension analysisthat aim to see whether there has the different by setting the whole stiffness informationinto the FE model or using the bushing model instead of the former. The result from thesimulation shows that the calculation using the stiffness information may be accurate onlyif the rubber bushing is under the small deformation. However the real FE model of rubberbushing may be used for suspension analysis rightly at large range of bushing deformation.Finally, the rigid-flexible coupling model of torsion beam suspension has been establishedfor the K&C analysis. The result shows that the torsion beam suspension gives anundesirable outcome, especially for the tire wear, when the car is rolling or turning. Anoptimization for K&C characteristics is established to improve the result stated above. TheDOE method is applied which can find the better parameter combination easily in complexevaluation index case.
