Recently, with the booming of urban and rural construction, the land resources are decreasing sharply. As a result, the strengthening for the peat soil with poor engineering properties becomes a common problem in the construction projects to meet the large demand of land resources from municipal and urban construction. Peat soil is a kind of soil with widely distribution and specific formation condition. For this reason, it has poor engineering property. In early construction projects, the methods such as cement mixed piles and broken stones vibration piles were used to deal with peat soil foundations, but it is not effective for consolidating the peat soil foundations near Dianchi drainage basin. In the developed countries, solidifying agent is widely used to strengthen peat soil and it is increasingly focused in research and application. For example, The solidifying agents of Japan, American and Germany are at large advanced, and their constitutional materials are developed from a single one(i.e. cement, lime etc.) to those specific to different soils. These solidifying agents are widely utilized in railway, highway, airport and municipal constructions. In the home, however, many solidifying agents for the soils with variety of properties have been manufactured, but those for peat soil are rarely reported. For this reason, it is not only enriched the categories of solidifying agents but also worthwhile for the practical application of them to exploring and studying a complex solidifying agent for peat and following research the mechanical properties of the solidified peat soils. This paper presents the methods through experiments with solidifying materials mixing into peat soils to strive to find a complex solidifying agent meeting the demand of engineering and special to peat soil.To that end, during the process of research, firstly, a total of eight kind of common and inexpensive curing materials, including cement, lime, fly ash, sodium hydroxide etc. were selected to mix with peat soil singly. In this way the respective dosage range were determined. The unconfined compressive strength was taken as the evaluation indicator for the solidifying effect of curing material against solidified soil. Selected cement as the main stabilizers, and added other curing materials effective to improve the strength of the solidified soil. Two groups of optimal formulas for stabilizers were obtained by uniform design and their serviceability would be validated. Secondly, took model test of strength growth with the formulas of stabilizers. Cement, stabilizers, architectural residues, age were taken as influencing factors, an empirical formula of strength growth was obtain by the derivation from the test data to provide a theoretical reference for the application of stabilizers in practice. Finally,, the constitutive model and shear strength of stabilized soil were obtained by common triaxial test. It further validated the stress and strain characteristics of the stabilizers.
