With the vigorous development of Chinese economy today, the transportation industry isalso developing more and more rapidly, cars have become an indispensable part of people’slife and work. At the same time,problems caused by traffic become more and more serious,traffic accidents caused a huge loss of property and life to the country and the people everyyear. According to statistics, the drivers’ bad driving behavior is the main reason of the trafficaccidents, these driving behaviors include making a cell phone or smoking when driving,fatigue driving and so on. The implement of effective remote monitoring and real-timewarning for these unsafe driving behaviors can not only avoid the traffic accidents from thesource, but also conducive to more effective management of the driver and change the drivinghabits of driver, so that we can reduce the losses caused by traffic accidents in the long.Contrary to the lacking of vehicle operation monitoring nowadays, this paper describesthe architecture of a vehicle driving behavior monitoring system, the vehicle terminal collects,analyzes driving behavior from the camera, judge the unsafe driving behavior by the featureof hand posture. The vehicle terminal not only achieves real-time early warning to the driver,but also transports real-time image of the car, driving locations, driving information to themanagement center by wireless communication network. It is conducive to further analysis,storage and management of the information. The paper research several key technologies ofvehicle driving behavior monitoring system in detail. The key technologies includerecognition driving behavior algorithm by hand gesture, driving behavior data remotetransmission technology and the vehicle terminals encryption mechanism. Recognitiondriving behavior algorithm by hand gesture is the basis of the system, it locate the position ofthe steering wheel by image automatically, analyze the driving characteristics of the driver.The system can judge unsafe driving behavior through real-time image processing; this isconducive to voice alarm and post-processing. In order to take more standardizedmanagement of vehicles driving behavior, the system transmits the driving information to theremote monitoring terminal. This paper describes the protocol, disconnection resumetechnology of the remote transmission of data in detail. To prevent hardware copy and piracyof the vehicle terminal, the system use DES encryption algorithm and achieve the datacommunication of the microcontroller and embedded development board to encrypt thevehicle terminal. Finally, the paper describes the hardware and software achievement of thevehicle driving behavior. Traffic accidents cause by unsafe driving behavior can be avoided by achieving a vehicledriving behavior monitoring system. The system is also conducive to standardizedmanagement and restraint to the driver by passenger transport center, a large fleet or publictransportation group.
