Recently, with the advantages of high strength, quick construction speed, reliable quality, environmental protection and energy saving, the pre-stressedconcrete pipe pile have been widely used in urban and rural construction field inour country. At the same time, the pre-stressed concrete pipe pile have a fewdisadvantages such as poor horizontal bearing ability and low utilization rate ofsteel bar’s strength, which make it hard to be promoted on project of supportingclasses. Aiming at the disadvantages of pre-stressed concrete pipe pile, this papersummarizes current research status about the pre-stressed concrete pipe pile’shorizontal bearing ability at home and abroad, and does the main work as follows. In order to study flexural performance of the pre-stressed concrete pipe pile, two PHC pipe piles have been used to do the test. Experimental results show thatthe crack width is1.5mm when the pipe pile reaches limit state. The pipe pile’sconcrete have not crushed and the pre-stressed reinforcement have not yield at thelimit state. And the pipe pile’s actual value of cracking moment and limit momentis significantly greater than the pipe pile’s standard value.Finite element simulation on pipe pile’s bending test is made to determine thepipe pile’s finite element model and the method of confirming limit state. Finiteelement simulation results are in good agreement with experimental data, whichindicates that the pipe pile’s model is accurate. Based on the test and finite elementstudy, new formula for calculating the cracking moment and limit moment is beingput forward. Comparative analysis results show that the proposed formulacalculation result is more accurate. Finally, through summary of the current new and improved pipe pile, give asquare section asymmetric reinforcement supporting pile which have good flexuraland shear properties and provide guideline for the development of new supportingpile.
