Energy threat and environmental pollution have become a global problem today.Automobile as a main transport tool is widely used in the world, which is one of themain factors of energy security and environmental pollution. Develop new energy andapply it to automobile and optimization the engine performance and parameters are apoint of penetration to solve the energy and environmental problems. In recent years, poor use of waste oil cause the extensive concern of society. Itrelates to the public’s healthy and their safety of life. How to use the waste oil hasbecome a focus of the society. Waste oil can be made into biodiesel, which can be as anew energy applied to diesel engine. Engine simulation software GT-Power was used toanalyze the power, economy and emission characteristics of diesel engine fueled wasteoil and its blends. The engine intake manifold and compression ratio are selected as the optimizationvariables. Engine simulation software GT-Power was used to test analysis which aims atimproving the engine power, economy and emission quality so as to finally determinethe optimum design parameters of intake manifold and compression ratio. The main content of this paper include:(1) The diesel engine simulation model was established based on GT-Powersoftware and the waste oil fuel depot was established in the GT-Power software basedon the physicochemical properties of waste oil.(2)Researching and analyzing the influences on power, economy and emission ofdiesel engine with waste oil, diesel, methanol and their mixture by the GT-Powersimulation software, and determine the best-mixture ratio at last.(3) Researching and analyzing the impacts on power, economy and emission ofdiesel engine with different lengths and diameters of intake manifold and differentcompression ratios by GT-Power simulation software, and finally determine theoptimum parameters.
