The working environment of ocean engineering structure is far away from land,it is equipped with many mechanical systems, which are used to support the dailyproduction and living. In order to make full use of limited space, the desgin ofworking and living cabin is compact, which makes it easy to suffer the influence ofthe vibration and noise generated by mechanical equipments and ocean environment.Additionally, ocean engineering structure is mainly made of steel, the vibration andnoise energy transmitted in the structure is hard to decay for its low damping. Withpeople’s increasing requirement for comfort and the widely use of precise instrumentsand equipments, the vibration and noise reduction of ocean engineering cabin arousesmore and more attention.In order to know the noise characteristic in ocean engineering cabin and searchfor vibration and noise reduction method which is suited to bulkhead structure, a fieldmeasurement in an ocean engineering structure is executed and noise bandcharacteristics and magnitude is known. Based on the comparing the results withrelevant standards and considering less space occupation, this paper studied themethod of vibration and noise reduction that a viscoelastic damping material is usedon the bulkhead and inner decorative panel.Considering requests that damping material has to meet in handling oceanengineering bulkhead structure’s vibration and noise reduction, two kinds ofviscoelastic damping materials were tested. According to the national standard ofacoustic damping material test, the author made a testing device to learn the twoviscoelastic damping materials’ characteristics. This paper also compared the lossfactor of different damping materials in different thickness, then applied the ideal oneon ocean engineering cabin’s vibration and noise reduction.According to the test result, the better material was applied on ocean engineeringbulkhead in the style of free damping structure, the physical experiment was made in the reverberation room to learn the vibration and noise reduction effect with theexcitation of white noise. The testing result showed that the viscoelastic dampingmaterial used on the bulkhead has good performance on vibration and noise reduction.Free damping structure and constrained damping structure were separately usedon the inner decorative panels of the ocean engineering cabin, which were installed inpractical usage, to test their sound insulation characteristics. The experiment alsoshowed that the decorative panels with damping structure has a good effect on soundinsulation.The vibration and noise reduction of the ocean engineering bulkhead and innerdecorative panels of cabin was studied in this paper by using viscoelastic dampingmaterials. By comparing the vibration and sound insulation of the structure after usingdamping structure, a good vibration and noise reduction effect was performed, whichalso proves that this method could play an positive guiding role in bulkheadstructure’s vibration and noise reduction design.
