In order to raise the flexibility and enhance the operational capability of the new cannon,studied on the influencing factors of its muzzle brake performance and improved the structureof the muzzle brake. The subject is needed to strengthen the combat effectiveness of troops, isrequired of the current trend of the task, is demanded for the building of national defense. Themuzzle brake is one of the key components of the cannon, the main problem of improving theperformance of the muzzle brake is how to increase its work efficiency and reduce theoverpressure value.In order to analysis of the structural parameters that affect the performance of the muzzlebrake and improve the muzzle brake, did the following research: First, analysised of thetheoretical of the flow field when firing without the muzzle brake. Second, used the softwareof fluent of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) to simulate the flow field that the cannonloaded the muzzle brake, then compared to the flow field which not installed the muzzle brake.The results above provided the theoretical basis for the selection of the test points thatmonitored the overpressure of the shock wave by experiment. Third, carried out two sets ofexperiments at the same time, the first one measured the efficiency of the muzzle brake, theother monitored the overpressure of six test points. Fourth, according to the structureparameters calculated the efficiency of the muzzle brake using the semi-empiricalsemi-theoretical improvements Orlov Law, then compared to the efficiency that according tothe experiment, the result proofed that the efficiency by the improvements Orlov Law wasconsistent with that by the experiment. Fifth, according to the improvements Orlov Lawanalysised of the inclination and the area of the side holes and the area of the central the bulletholes affect on the performance of the muzzle brake. Finally, obtained the three-dimensionalsimulation model of the improved muzzle brake as the result of changing the originalstructure parameters. Contrasted the two-dimensional simulation of the original and theimproved muzzle brake, outcome that the improved muzzle brake is better than the original.In summary, achieved the results that the sensitivity of the inclination and the area of theside holes and the area of the central the bullet holes affect on the performance of the muzzlebrake, it provides the theoretical basis for the design and optimization of the muzzle brake.And eventually obtained the optimization model of the muzzle brake which is better than theoriginal.
