With the expanding of economic scale, the world’s energy crisis is becoming more and more prominent. Solar energy as a clean, sustainable, renewable energy has broad application prospects. Photovoltaic power generation is an important form of solar energy utilization. In independent solar photovoltaic power generation systems, energy storage devices can be efficient and lasting work directly affects the stability of the entire pv system. Research and design a high performance charge controller to improve the efficiency and stability of independent photovoltaic power generation system has important significance.Since the output of photovoltaic battery with complex nonlinear, to its maximum power point tracking controller, to improve the efficiency of independent photovoltaic power generation system, reducing power generation cost. At present most of the independent solar photovoltaic power generation system using a battery energy storage equipment. And the protection of storage battery is undeserved, the service life of the battery is not long. In this paper, we design a charge controller based on Atmega48MCU, with the function of MPPT, and the battery charge and discharge mode is optimized management. In this paper, the main work and achievements are as follows:1. According to the output characteristics of photovoltaic cells, I creat the mathematical model and Matlab/Simulink simulation model of solar cells, and compares the advantages and disadvantages of some common research methods of MPPT. Finally I put forward based on the adaptive duty ratio observation method, to track the maximum power Point.2. For photovoltaic battery life is not long, I have a deep study of the characteristics of the photovoltaic battery,charge and discharge principles and the factors affecting battery life. I studies and compares the current battery charge and discharge method, combined with the actual requirements, phased charging method is used as the system of charging management style. 3. Finally, I design and realize the hardware and software equipment of the controller, through the experimental test, the charge controller has a good performance, achieving the desired effect.
