The prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge, with its superior force characteristics, occupies a very important role in the construction of large-span bridges. Simply supportedcontinuous bridge has been more widely used, as it combines the superior force characteristicsof continuous bridge with the advantages of simple construction and low cost of simplysupported bridge. However, in recent years, safety accidents of the continuous girder bridgecaused by differential settlement of the foundation have happened frequently, which makes alot of inconvenience and threats to the safety, in both live and property sides, of our people’s.Therefore, it makes a lot of sense to research the mechanical behavior of the continuous girderbridge, which effected by differential settlement of the foundation. This thesis uses the calculation methods of differential settlement as the the theoreticalbasis, and the finite element analysis software as the tool, establishes the analysis models ofboth prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge with span of45m+60m+45m and simplysupported continuous bridge with span of3×20m. By setting different differential settlementconditions and sediment values, this thesis researches the mechanical behavior of continuousgirder bridges which effected by the differential settlement of the foundation. And then, afterthe comparative analysis of some usual reinforcement measures for continuous girder bridges, this thesis makes some suggestions to the reinforcement of continuous girder bridges.According to the analysis results of this thesis, we can get the conclusions as follows.Firstly, as the differential settlement effects a lot to the mechanical properties of theprestressed concrete continuous girder bridge, we must be stricter to the control, in design andconstruction, of the differential settlement. Secondly, the reinforcement measures of externalprestress would be the first choice to fix the apparent cracks and deflections of the upperstructure. Thirdly, we must take durations, costs and our purposes into account to decidewhich the best reinforcement measures would be, in reinforcing the foundation.
