With the rise of more and more underground project, many geological disastershave occurred such as rock burst, the cavern collapsed, landslides, a serious threat topeople’s lives and property safety. the problems of rock or rock mass stability becomethe academic focus in rock mechanics of the study and one of the hottest.Small rock pillars in the laboratory, or the presence of large-scale undergroundengineering rock mass-the pillar is a simplified model limited only by themechanical components of uniaxial stress, discussed in this article is basically amember of rock under uniaxial compression. However, it has many factors that affect the stability of the rock. Rock materialoften with existing fractures and joints during the years of geological history, in thecondition of load, weathering, chemical action, the appearance is perfect smooth rocks, the inside may have lots of invisible cracks, these cracks tend to very rapidly develop, and finally form the failure surfaces; on the other hand, the rock as a commonmaterial in a daily life, is often considered to be a very homogeneous material and cannot be ignored in engineering problems.Above mentioned are internal physical factors affecting the Rock Pillar Stability.due to affect its stability is the rock pillar geometry-slenderness, geometric shape, ifthe slenderness is large, then the stability of the rock pillar issues will evolve into anonlinear problem, or a more direct say-strut problem.Of course, there are many external factors affecting the stability of rock pillars, such as different excavation depth of the cavern in the rock pillars, suffered to stressthe different sizes of the size of the bending stiffness also changes in the elastic rangeby the ultimate load capacity. The combination of the above, the author in this paper were to consider the impact of three factors on the stability of rock pillars: the outside world to stress thedifference in size, the degree of heterogeneity of the rock, the rock columnslenderness ratio is different, the first question over algorithms written in MATLAB tocalculate the rock pillars in different sizes stress the bending stiffness of a well-settled;through the second question in the MATLAB platform to build a simplifiedmechanical model to study the heterogeneity of rock column in the development ofthe damage and failure to give a certain degree of theoretical explanation; thirdproblem in classical mechanics of materials within the scope of reasonableassumptions, deduced conclusions have good agreement with the actual situation.
