Lead-acid starter batteries are closely related to electric power, traffic, and informationindustry and in charge of vehicles and Uninterrupted Power Supply.Lead-acid batteries’ position and work environment have been analyzed with autoelectrical system. And the major functions have been studied. How the Lead-acid batterieswork and the technical parameters have been described in the paper then. Batteries’ storagecapacities, storage battery voltage, resistance, state of charge, state of health have been usedto measure the quality of lead-acid batteries.The main content of this paper is as follows:The methods of SOC estimation such as the voltage method, the current integral method,energy balance method, neural network method and kalman filter method have beencompared. Considering the factors influenced on the state-of-charge (SOC) such ascharge-discharge efficiency, temperature, self-discharge and aging, the algorithm based on theconservation has been used to estimate SOC and the algorithm based on internal resistancehas been used to estimating SOH.The effects of temperature, cycle times,self-discharge to SOC and the relation ofopen-circuit to SOC could been extracted from the pictures given by lead-acid batteries’company using Matlab. Naturally a model of SOC estimation could be established withMatlab/Simulink.The design process of lead-acid batteries’ management system has been summarizedsystematically following the main lines of batteries and management system. A reasonableinformation mode has been established by judging the condition of lead-acid batteries underthe situations such as lead-acid batteries work alone, generator operates normally andgenerator cooperates with lead-acid batteries. So that, any situations can be warned bymonitoring and an reasonable information lead-acid batteries’ management system can beestablished and provide useful information to the energy distribution.
