This paper summarizes the background and actuality of joint clearance and space deployable antenna. The theory of modeling joint with clearance is deep analyzed. Based on the theory which is mentioned before, the slider-crank mechanism and deployable antenna both with clearance are investigated. The main work includes:1.The types of contact, the methods for solving contact force and the selection guidelines of contact parameters are studied. Integrating author’s experience, some tips for modeling contact are given.2.For the various factors that affect contact force, based on the previous work, the influence factors are divided into internal and external factors. The effect of the factors is analyzed through establishing parametric slider-crank model, the main factor is found. The effect of flexibility and clearance on the dynamic performance of mechanism is explored.3.A new clearance model for deployable antenna is proposed. This new model has the advantages of simpleness and exactitude. Based on this new clearance model, the dynamic model of deployable antenna with clearance is established. The effect of clearance on the dynamic performances of deployable antenna is analyzed. The results show that the presence of clearances affects the deployment precision of deployable antenna. In the initial stage of the deployment process, the components of deployable antenna fluctuate strongly, then gradually become stabilized.
