Along with the deepening of the global environmental protection and energy saving concept, the Diesel-Electric Hybrid Forklift will become a trend in future development of Internal Combustion Forklifts. In the process of braking, deceleration and material declining, the forklift will produce large amounts of recyclable energy. If this energy is reused, as compared to passenger cars’, vehicle fuel savings is a very impressive. Therefore, industrial vehicles compared to passenger cars, has a greater potential in the application of hybrid technology.Firstly, according to the characteristics of the forklift power system, the Parallel Hybrid Forklift is selected as a target designing. Based on the hybrid forklift structural arrangement, the simulation model of vehicle and major components are established in Matlab/Simulink environment as the research object, including the engine, motor, power batteries and hydraulic lifting system, etc. And thus lay the foundation for the design and optimization studies of the hybrid forklift power distribution control strategy.Then, Taking into account the characteristics of the structure and the working conditions of the hybrid forklift, select power assist control and fuzzy logic control of the hybrid forklift power distribution control strategy as a comparison study. The control principle of their implementation in the vehicle controller is explained in detail in the next chapter. Then, in order to make the hybrid forklift using of fuzzy logic power distribution control strategy has a better fuel economy, the membership function of fuzzy controller is optimized using the genetic algorithm toolbox.Finally, based on the hybrid forklift simulation conditions, use the simulation model to simulation study these two different power distribution control strategies, and make a comparative analysis of their application characteristics and simulation results. By comparing the simulation and experimental results, it show that the design of the power distribution control strategy has good applicability, and prove that the hybrid forklifts has significant fuel economy advantages compared to the traditional internal combustion forklifts.
