Solar Irradiance Monitor working on the solar synchronizing orbit as the effective payload of FY III satellite is designed for measuring solar total irradiance by tracking the sun through the two dimension rotate system. A mock light system of solar path on orbit is needed for the terrestrial simulation test of the two dimension tracking system of Solar Irradiance Monitor. Therefore, the research about a simulation system of solar path on orbit for solar irradiance monitor is carried out in this paper.There is a relative angle change between the sun and the satellite working on the solar synchronizing orbit. It is necessary for the simulation system to mock the change. In this paper, a light system which can conduct a spherical path is developed. A two dimension motion mechanic is used to carry a mock light to move in a spherical path in terrestrial experiment. The mock light will emit parallel light rays of equal illumination from all direction, meanwhile, MCU is used to control the velocities and directions of the two motors of the two dimension mechanic according to the theory of calculation method for the location of the sun relative to the satellite, thus mocking the solar irradiance path on orbit. After preliminary investigation of the Sun’s path on orbit, the design of the electrical controlling system including hardware circuit and software programming is described in details based on the mechanical structure and optical system.In this paper, MCU works as the core controller used to control the motors and FPGA works auxiliary. And encoders are used to feed back the position of the mock light to achieve the close-ring control of the stepping motor. The controller is of high practical values for its stability and orientation accuracy. The simulation system proves to be of good performance after testing in terrestrial experiment and it is of great significance for the tracking performance testing of the two dimension tracking system of Solar Irradiance Monitor.
