| The special-shaped cross-section compound beams have variable forms, jointstructure diversity and possess high bearing capacity and seismic performance, whichattracted increasing attention in the field of construction engineering. In general, thedesign of special-shaped cross-section compound beam requires a lot of physicalexperiments and numerical experiments which is ineffective and time-consumingwhile using finite element software. In order to improve the efficiency of thenumerical experiments, the strength and stiffness of special-shaped cross-sectioncompound beam are studied at first. Then based on the obtained formula of thespecial-shaped cross-section compound beam, an efficient software was developed tocalculate their stress and deflection by using the user-friendly interface andhigh-performance post-processing module of a large commercial finite elementsoftware platform. The main contents are as follows:(1) Based on plane hypothesis, the position of the neutral axis of an arbitrarycross-sectional compound beam with n kinds of material was studied and the stressand deflection formulae of the beams under bending or eccentric loads were deduced.Afterwards, by using the obtained formulae, stress and flection of rectangularcross-section stacked beam with two kinds of materials were computed to comparewith the existing experimental data and the analytical data from the finite elementsoftware to verify the correctness and practicality of the formulae.(2) Taking the derived formulae as the theoretical basis and using PCL (Patrancommand language) on the MSC.Patran platform, a program was developed tocalculate the stress and deflection of special-shaped cross-section compound beamswith higher effciency. Then, the design of steel-reinforced concrete columns wasstudied by using the present program. Through comparison of the present results withexperimental data, it is showed that the present program can calculate the strength andstiffness of the SRC Column with a high speed and accuracy within the linear range. Therefore, the program has a certain engineering meanings and theoretical value.(3) The program has a user-friendly interface and versatility for taking fulladvantage of the MSC.Patran software features, providing a fast and convenientnumerical experiment tool for the design of special-shaped cross-section compoundbeams. |
