This article provides an overview of current research on coast sedimentmovement along seacoast and near port, describes the silty sediment movementcharacteristic and research methods. Study on sediment and its results are summarizedon building Tianjin Port for more than60years, and the basic situation of TianjinInternational Cruise Mother Harbour is introduced.For Tianjin International Cruise Mother Harbour near waters, the engineeringphenomenon of muddy water hose frequently occur, a lot of data are collected. It isincluded a large of site photos, seabed sediment sample, sediment concentration, tidalflow velocity and direction at the period of flood and ebb tide and in sailing, and so on.In the laboratory, research and analysis are done to37posts end load sedimentsamples,38stations sailing sediment concentration and sediment particle size,5stations of sailing section velocity and its direction and a lot of site shooting photos.At Tianjin Cruise Mother Harbour waters near the port, sediment type is determinedand the turbid water hose is analyzed with a variety of possible causes by laboratoryanalysis. SWAN model to simulate the waves within the port area is applied under thedifferent wave condition and wave height. Then the wave height distribution are gotin different wind regime, And proof is provided for analysis to wave set offsedimentation. The important conclusions are obtained, under the many years meantide level, when there is many years mean wind in direction of E, NNW and SSW at0m shallow-level seabed the sediment will start in the east side or the west side of thecruise port, when there is many years mean wind in direction of E at0m~-2m seabedthe sediment will Suspend near the cruise port, when there is6class wind in directionof E at-2m~-5m seabed the sediment will easy start, and when there is8class windin direction of ENE, NE at-5.0m deep-level in the east side or the west side of thecruise port the sediment will not start. And the treatment of turbid water hose isdetermined, according to the calculation of incipient motion of sediment theexcavation depth and excavation scope. It is proposed that water depth less than5.0mshoal area will is dug, first the west shoal area close to the cruise port will is pilot dug,and then the east and west shoal area will is removed by excavation.
