Conventional methods commonly use the designed dam material parameters tocalculate the stress and deformation of high earth-rock dam. However, practicalmaterial parameters are different at different positions with the effect of constructionquality difference, which may cause the incorrect result of the finite elementcalculation. Therefore, it is necessary to study on the stress and deformation ofearth-rock dam considering construction quality uncertainty and then provide moreaccurate method for high earth-rock dam safety analysis. The main contents andachievements of the paper are as follows:(1) Based on real-time monitoring data in the rolling process of earth-rock dam,the correlation-ship between compaction parameters, moisture content gradation anddensity is analyzed, and multiple regression model of material density is established.Meanwhile, according to the results of triaxial shear test, multiple regression modelsamong density, moisture content, gradation and material parameters are established. Therefore, the quantitative relationship among practical construction quality anddensity, material parameters is determined.(2) Spatial distributions of actual construction compaction parameters on workunits are yielded by the statistical process. Combined with the established densityregression model, the spatial uncertainty of the density is analyzed using Monte-Carlomethod. Furthermore, based on the density distribution and the established materialparameters regression models, the uncertainties of material parameters can beobtained with consideration of density spatial uncertainty, which will provide basicdata support for stochastic finite element calculation of dam stress and deformation.(3) Considering the spatial uncertainties of material parameters, stochastic finiteelement-based analysis method for stress and deformation uncertainties of highearth-rock dam is proposed.. Compared with the designed condition, the impact ofpractical construction quality on dam stress and deformation is analyzed and theprobabilities of stress and deformation exceeding their designed level are alsodetermined. Thus it provides a new approach for more accurate calculation andanalysis dam safety.
