Nowadays, with the development of the world economy, the mass exploitation ofhuman resources of the earth, making the energy shortage and environmentalpollution has become an important problem. Because of the advantages of energysaving and environmental protection, electric vehicles have been a new direction forfuture vehicle development. The wheel electric vehicles with more efficiency,performance advantages compared to traditional electric vehicles. The wedge-shapedair gap disc coreless permanent magnet synchronous motor with its small size, lightweight and high efficiency, has become the first choice of the electric vehicle wheelmotor. Disc coreless PMSM still belongs to the infancy worldwide, and the study ofits control method is even fewer. Due to the unique structure, the traditional controlmethods are hard to use on the disc coreless PMSM.This paper introduces the study status in the worldwide first, especially the statusof the disc coreless PMSM research. After that, the structural characteristics areintroduced based on the traditional PMSM theory, and the impact of thesecharacteristics to its performance is analyzed. A control system model to illustrate amotor with small armature inductance is hard to be controlled under traditionalcontrol methods, is built in Simulink. On this basis, two new control methods for thedisc coreless PMSM in my group are proposed. The validation of these two methodsis done in Simulink, and the control program based on TMS320LF2407is written.The study has laid a foundation of control system of disc coreless PMSM, and thestudy plays a significant role in promoting the study of motor control system for itsapplications in various industries.
