| With the rapid urbanization pace and the booming increase in the quantity ofvehic les, phenomenon such as disorder development, traffic congestion, environmental pollution begins to emerge in the city. Along with the re advocate ofthe urban planning conception which stresses health, humanization andsustainability, developing the transit based on urban city are adopted by most ofthe municipal governments as one of the urban planning strategies to change thetraffic and landuse mode, to promote the healthy development of a city, and toeliminate the negative effect of the excessive vehicles on the urban traffic system. Moreover, for the ind ispensable relationship between the urban slow traffic systemand the public transport system, it is important to develop the urban slow trafficsystem on build ing the transit metropolis. As a result, it has merits to probe intopedestrian behavior and needs, and establish a space target and spatialcharacteristics of the slow traffic system. And then the paper investigaty on thespatial framework and measures for characteristics of the urban slow traffic systemfrom the urban planning perspective, which can contribute a lot to the definitionand improvement for the composition and spatia l arrangement of the city’s publictransport system. This paper firstly analyses on the spatial characteristics of the city built basedon public transportation system, with fundamental research on the urban slowtraffic system, which can make the position of it clearly and define thecomple mentary relationship between the fast traffic system and the slow trafficsystem. Secondly, based on the retrospect of the present a nd the past, the authorrefers to the theory of environmenta l behavior to probe the pedestrian behavior andneeds, aiming at summarizing the spatial objective of the urban slow traffic systemwhich meets the users’ behaviors and needs. The paper puts forward the spatial ofthe urban slow traffic system as well as the unique adaptability that both fit to theurban fabric and urban transport system. Thirdly, it research this characteristic inthe macro, meso and micro levels of space characteristics. Spatial characteristicsare as follows: O n the macro leve l, the author finds that the urban slow trafficsystem locate along the transport axis and develop with multi-hub and landscape;on the meso level, the urban slow traffic system has the spatia l traits which can besummarized as homogeneous, high density and high floor area ratio, and varietyspaces; on the micro level, the urban slow traffic system appears to be easilyidentifiable and distinct and also the space is separated into pedestrians andvehic les which is driven by the people-oriented princip le and friendly to the pedestrians and buses. Finally, the paper summarizes all the research andinvestigation, and puts forward the slow traffic system space framework, accordingto the frame corresponding space shaping countermeasures. On the macro level, itproposed two measures which inc lude constructing a complete slow system and thegood combination of public transport system; on the meso level, it suggests raisingslow network density, establis h the station center and focus on special planning forslow areas; on the micro level, it states three resolutions consist of carrying outtraffic calming in slow gallery, integrating functions and spaces of node, andbuilding divers spaces of slow traffic unit. This paper studies the relationship between the urban fast traffic system andurban slow traffic system in the transit metropolis, and puts forward someconstructive suggestions, targeting to provide scientific and constructionalreferences to municipal governments who aim to build the urban slow trafficsystem for their public transportation, in order to ensure the cities develop muchmore healthy and sustainable. |
