In all over the world, people judge the quality of drinking water mainly by itssensory properties,especially the taste and odor. Along with the enlargement ofeconomy and development of industry, many kinds of pollutants and chemicals wasabandoned recklessly into rivers and lakes, more and more known and potentialthreats caused by drinking water taste and odor pollution.it has been a hot researchtopic in the water treatment field. In this thesis,we research2-MIB and GSM as arepresentative of the typical taste and odor substances in water.This thesis discussed the effect of removal of taste and odor in water mainlybased on Densadeg. Then studied the adsorption efficiency of attapulgite for thetypical taste and odor substances of2-MIB and GSM in purify water. then make useof attapulgite to enhause Densadeg Because taste and odor in water normally arevolatile organic chemicals(VOCs), air stripping and Densadeg combined technologywas use to study the removal of taste and odor chemicals.The results of research showed that the effect of removing2-MIB and GSM byDensadeg was better than traditional process,but the concentration of2-MIB andGSM in effluent was still higher than the odor threshold value the removalefficiency needed to be improved. Attapulgite is one kind of natural mineral material,because of its great performance in the adsorption of many pollutants, and its widespreading and low costs it is widely used in water treatment industry. the effect ofpH,temperature, hunting speed and competition adsorption on2-MIB and GSMadsorption onto attapulgite was studied, eventually to identify the optimumconditions of2-MIB and GSM adsorption on attapulgite in water. The results ofresearch showed that adsorption efficiency of attapulgite for the target pollutants canbe reached above21%Freundlich adsorption isotherms of GSM was fitted to theadsorption thermodynamics experiment data,the study also showed theLangergren-second-order kinetics model was the most appropriate mathematicalmodels for the adsorption data. on the basis of adsorption experiment,usingattapulgite to enhaused Densadeg. crafts, the removal efficiency of2-MIB and GSMcould be reached35.8%and38.2%.This thesis also discussed the effect of removal of taste and odor in water bystripping, the effect of initial concentration,temperature, aeration rate and turbidityof water was studied.At the last, the combination process of stripping and Densadegcan improve the removal rate sharply compared with conventional process by aeration conbined with Densadeg., the removal rate of target polluants could beabove60%.
