Body design of the discharge structure is a very important factor which must tobe considered in the research and design of engineering, and it is closely related to thesecurity problems of discharge structures such as the cavitation and dissipation ofenergy. And the water attack on slabs in plunge pool and the negative pressure arevery important and complicated problem. Model test is often used to study on theshape of discharge structure. In recent years, the numerical simulation method hasbeen developed with the development of computer technology. In this paper, themethod of combining numerical simulation and model test will be used to study thebody design of discharge structures. The main contents are as following.1. Illustrate the development and application of different turbulence models. Andanalyze the feasibility of numerical simulation on water conservancy project.2. A numerical simulation of large eddy simulation was used to simulatedischarging proceeding of the roof overflow powerhouse. Comparing betweencalculated results and test data, this method is feasible.3. Study the distribution law of fluctuating pressure on the normal condition, andfind the key point where the cavitation would probably happen.4. Discuss the discharge characteristics of the discharge structure with X widetail pier using large eddy simulation and compare between calculated results and testdata.5. Explore the different features of two kinds of connection mode on dischargestructure with X wide tail pier, and provide reference for the design of this kindstructure.
