In recent years, the exploitation of groundwater is mainly concentrated in the deep confined aquifers; however, the unreasonable exploitation of groundwater has led to water table depression, ground subsidence, deterioration of water quality and other environmental issues. Shallow groundwater has many benefits, like shallow aquifer, adequate supply, and high-level water supply. Therefore, the study of water distribution and pollution of shallow groundwater is important. In this paper, the ash field of Jilin Power Plant is studied. According to the hydrogeological data of this area, and boundary generalization, sources and sinks treatment of this area, a hydrogeological conceptual model is established. Through the water balance calculation of this area, the water balance characteristics of the groundwater in this area are found out, and a groundwater flow model of this area is established. GMS is used to solve the model, and the method of parameter inversion is used to identify the model. Then the control observed values of control observed wells and simulation calculated values are given, and under certain conditions of confidence the residual between the calculated and observed values is calculated, comparing the degree of the coincidence between the simulated results and the control observed data. The results show that the model meets the accuracy requirements of calculation and can reflect the general law of the groundwater flow of this area. This paper also finds out the groundwater distribution of this area in different periods by solving the model of the groundwater flow field. According to the hydrogeological analysis, a model of the groundwater contamination transport is established, and the model is solved with the finite element method, in order to obtain the diffusion range of the pollutant transport in this area. The overall analysis of the underground pollutant migration simulation shows that the results meet the Class â…¢ Numerical Standards of "Groundwater Environmental Quality Standards". The research in this paper provides a scientific basis for the management, development and utilization of local shallow groundwater resource.
