Material brittle fracture for military industries is conducive to improve the rateof shell material fragment. Analysis of loading conditions using finite element softwarecan be better, improve the process of brittle zone machining. The shell steel can be createda more powerful controllable prefabricated fragment in line with the principle ofcontrollable mechanism, enhance the projectile lethality, improve the utilization rate ofmaterials.In this paper, first, use of high-energy laser beam in the shell surface processing, sothat the formation of brittle grid shell surface, the shell breaking will be in accordancewith the established grid cracking. Then use the ANSYS finite element softwareto simulate the process of shell crushing, at the same time, it is verified withexperimental analysis of brittle effects on shell crushing process.The simulation model has two kinds, respectively is rectangular strip and plate steelmodule, using58SiMn as simulation materials. In this paper, through the ANSYSdisplay dynamic part of the non brittle and brittle zone containing strip and analysis thecrushing process of grid and stress wave map, results show that: ifthe specimen with brittle zone, it is more easily broken, and the brittle zone onthe grid varies considerably with time, than other grid more prone to failure andfragmentation. Brittle with a significant influence on the specimen broken.In addition, with containing different offset cruciform brittle zone, different density ofbrittle specimen impact process of grid map, stress wave, hammer force acceleration andimpact analysis of absorption power curve, there can be seen: Both the dragacceleration value or impact absorbing energy difference relative to the hammer headitself by drag acceleration and impact absorbing energy is negligible, That is differentfrom brittle band offsets and density is not significant on the effect of broken parts,Brittle with density affects only the shrapnel fragment. At the sametime simulation cross brittle process with specimen impact absorption work in accordance with the experiment.Through the analysis of stress wave on the same position on different model unit, itshows that with the plate of brittle specimen crack at roughly the same time, and near theunit initial shock generated stress wave varies largely brittle zone, unit from the brittlezone closer, produce the maximum stress increases, along with occurrence and spread ofspecimens of brittle fracture, the mesh change, stress wave patterns and impact test thephysical map can also be verified.
