The shrinking petroleum resource and increasing environment contamination have been the serious worldwide problems.Developing on alternate fuel has been an important way to relieve the stress of fuel.The Methanol-gasoline’s technical indicators were full compliance with the national standard of gasoline vehicles in the experiments. The applications were studied on the characteristics of EFI engine when fueled with M15, M25, M35, M45, RON93gasoline, and also on the road test and the cold start performance.The experiments show that the P&C properties of methanol gasoline with compound additives is stable within18months, and the behaviour of performance meet the local standards. The bench tests show that the power of methanol gasoline are basically same with RON93gasoline. The fuel consumptions of methanol gasoline are lower than RON93gasoline. In the emissions test, THC and CO emissions of methanol gasoline are lower than that of RON93gasoline, NOx emissions are equal to that of RON93gasoline. For unregulated emissions, the exhaust amount of methanol and formaldehyde is a little higher than that of RON93. However, the Three Way Catalyst has a high conversion efficiency for them and could keep the emissions as low as using the RON93gasoline.The ratio of methanol is not effected on the emissions of ethanol and acetaldehyde.The road test and cold test experiments show that M25methanol gasoline is more5.7%higher than that of RON93#gasoline, and dynamic performances show no change. There is no malfunction on all the vehicles. The vehicles can start normally at the temperature as low as-35℃.A skeleton chemical kinetic model of the methanol gasoline oxidation was built. The experimental data of the bench test were utilized to verify the model. A bench model was built by BOOST, the high proportion methanol gasoline conventional emissions was predictedThe applications of methanol gasoline blends in EFI engine and the engine performances are studied in several aspects in the thesis, which are operative technology to relieve the oil crisis and reduce environmental pollution.
