The production process of Lurgi low pressure synthesis device with600,000t/y methanol project was chosen as the study object in this paper, according to the research progress of various factors about the effects of methanol synthesis reaction at home and abroad. The technical characteristics of different methanol synthesis reactor as well as the performance and operation of the methanol synthesis plant during the operation period for the first furnace of catalyst were analyzed. Combined with production, the effects of the process conditions (including temperature, pressure, catalyst) and the composition of reaction gas (ratio of hydrogen to carbon, inert gas concentration, the purity in purified gas), recycle ratio etc. on the selectivity of methanol synthesis were investigated to lay a foundation for the selection of process conditions and optimization of production operation. Comparing the production data during the catalyst in the synthesis reaction at different times, the optimal control scheme for methanol synthesis was obtained, which adopting MegaMax700copper-based catalyst with high activity, high thermal stability. Meanwhile, the production operation data and the effect of the catalyst of the second furnace were summarized and the measures to protect the catalyst were put forward, which has provided a feasible basis for realizing the economic benefits of enterprises.
