With the development of science and technology, more and more requirements onthe manufacturing of automobile and engine are put forward. Base on This, themanufacturing of the key parts of engine are influenced. The piston, as the corecomponents of the engine, is facing new challenges on manufacturing. So enhancingthe piston quality, upgrading the manufacturing level are the ways for a company tosurvive. According to the latest survey, the profit of the Automotive IndustryCorporation is becoming less and less just because the host plants keep the prices downto its suppliers. with the increasingly fierce competition of the piston industries and thereplacement of equipment, companies face a major problem:cost and profit. How to doit? Innovation! It is the direction of our efforts to improve the level of manufacturingby changing the process method in the present conditions to save the cost ofproduction.In this paper, the author make some researches on the machining method of thepinhole with special requirement based on the actual production situation of ShandongBinzhou Bohai piston co., It includes: the present machining methods andtechnological requirements, machining research of the distance of piston pin holecenter line to the top surface (Compression Height), the pin hole cylindricity, theperpendicularity of piston pin hole center line to the pin boss face and the pin holeroughness. During the research, the author make a detailed analysis of the presentprocessing control methods, and make a specification of the quality assurance.Through the analysis of reference selection and dimension chain, the author finds outthe reasons that the Compression Height is out of tolerance, and then carries on theprocess capability verification. Through the analysis on the machine, fixture, tooling,the residual stress and the temperature, the author finds out the reasons that the pistonpin hole cylindricity is out of tolerance, and the main process that causes residual stressand deformation by residual stress test. The author finds out the factors that affect theperpendicularity of the piston pin hole center line to pin boss face by usingBrain-Storming, the Fish-Bone Diagram, the Six-Point location theory,. And analyzethe factors that affect piston pin hole roughness By using Tree Diagram, scatterdiagram, regression analysis, and optimize the process such as machining parameters,tooling parameters by using orthogonal test.Through the above research, the author improve the piston pin hole machining method and optimize the processing parameters, and put it into practice, It reach theresearch`s goal. Through the improvement of piston pin hole machining method, it canincrease the piston pin hole machining quality and save the cost. It has the significanceof the theoretical analysis and practical application.
