The south-to-north water transfer project was to alleviate the life and productionwater, the ecological environment and agricultural water of the Henan, Hebei, Tianjin,Beijing provinces and cities, as well as along20large cities. The results of groundwaterquality in a Jiaozuo power factory place for pulverized coal ash showed, that the mainexceeded pollutants in groundwater contain chloride, nitrate nitrogen, hexavalentchromium, total hardness, total dissolved solid etc. Because of the study area located inthe inner segment of south-to-north water transfer project, groundwater contaminantsmay have effects on the quality of the main canal water. In the background of the inner groundwater discharge segment, thatwas situated insouth-to-north water transfer project of Jiaozuo part. This paper used the latestgroundwater simulation software FEFLOW6.1and the one-dimensional riversimulation software MIKE11to make a coupling simulation. And this research hadimplemented the quantitative analysis of water exchange and solute transport betweenthe main canal and groundwater. The main canal and groundwater were used as acomplete system to study. Coupling the river model with third type of boundary(Cauchyboundary) in the groundwater numerical model can simulate the recharge and dischargerelationship between main canal and groundwater reasonably. Further to study theinfluence of groundwater quality on the water quality of the main canal. It was used FEFELOW to establish heterogeneous and isotropic two-dimensionalsteady flow of groundwater flow model according to analyze of aquifer structurecharacteristics of Jiaozuo area and the actual groundwater flow field. Analyzingborehole data and the design scheme of the main canal,one-dimensional river modelwas set up by MIKE11. Both simulations were coupled by using the plug-inIFMMIKE112.0through the interface management (IFM) in the groundwater modelFEFLOW.The coupling simulation results showed:①The study area recharge capacity frominner discharge segment to the main canal was9168.75m3/d.②From solute balanceanalysis of the coupling model, the rate of chloride ions in the groundwater flow intothe main canal was162.70g/d. Due to the low concentration of hexavalent chromiumand nitrate nitrogen in groundwater and flow into the main canal was below the detection limit, the quantity almost have no effect on the main canal.③The powerfactory place for pulverized coal ash in study area, the contamination in groundwaterhave little influence on main canal water quality in the simulation period.
