In this paper, the synthesis processes, reaction kinetics and phase equilibrium of β-naph--thyl ethyl ether were studied.P-naphthyl ethyl ether was synthesized with β-naphthol and bromoethane in the presence of phase transfer catalyst. Research shows that the highest yield of P-naphthyl ethyl ether can top95.02%with polyethylene glycol-400as phase transfer catalyst. The optimal conditions were as follow:reaction temperature=70℃, reaction time=1.5h, molar ratio of catalyst and β-naphthol is0.06:1, the molar ratio of NaOH and β-naphthol is1.75:1.Whats more, based on researching on reaction mechanism, kinetic model was established theoretically, and reaction kinetic equation was r=2.191x106xe52974.75/RT CA.Furthermore, solubility data of β-naphthyl ethyl ether in alcohol solvents and alcohol-water solvents were measured and thermodynamic model was established. The measured solubility data were correlated by van’t Hoff, modified Apelblat. λh, Margules models.The result shows that modified Apelblat and Margules models have good agreement in pure solvents and mixed solvents, respectively, and with both of the overall average relative deviations less than2%.According to the modified Apelblat equation, enthalpy and entropy of solution in pure and mixed solvents can be derived; the fusion enthalpy at the melting point obtained by Margules model in pure solvents are consistent with the value of the fusion enthalpy determined by DSC, which further proved that Margules equation has good relevance in alcohol solvents.
