The pressure atomization characteristics in spray quench chamber were mainly studied. The droplet-size and particle size distribution of the chamber and the gas-outlet, the accumulated mass distribution of the liquid phase were investigated.Droplet-size measurements were carried out by a Malvern Spraytec particle sizer. Result shows for single atomizer, the liquid flow only has an effect on the particle size distribution near the nozzle, and the size distribution become more dispersed as the flow increases. When taking into account the cross flow, it shows that near the nozzle, the liquid flow rate is the key factor influences the Sauter Mean Diameter D32, while far from the nozzle, both the flow rate of the two phases have an effect. For four nozzles combination, the cross flow causes the D32to increase and higher liquid flow rate enhances the influence. Besides, both the gas and liquid flow rate have a significant influence on the D32of the gas outlet, as the liquid flow rate increases, both the D32and the dispersion of the size distribution grow. And as the gas flow rate increases, only the D32grows, with the dispersion of the size distribution keeps steady. The droplet accumulated mass distribution is correspondent to the gas phase distribution in the chamber, which is benefit for heat and mass transfer.
